Mother to Son
       The surroundings affect the mother. In the story mother to, mother has no education, no money, and hard life. she tells us about her life ain't been no crystal star, sometime goin'in the dark and there ain't been no light. the speaker is trying to tell her son her life has had many challenges, she has continued to move forward, never giving up. She uses imagery to advise her son to do likewise.

PEEL- The Negro Speaks of Rivers

point: Langston Hughes used the river as a symbol of life for African American in the poem "The Negro Speaks of Rivers.
