PEEL- The Negro Speaks of Rivers

point: Langston Hughes used the river as a symbol of life for African American in the poem "The Negro Speaks of Rivers.


Evidence #1: In the line "I built my hut near the Congo it lulled me to sleep" it is expresses how great is the river is and how comfortable he is.



Evidence #2:In the line "I heard the singing of the Mississippi". personification, the river epressed  joy of the slaves.
